Washington — Adfero Group was awarded a prestigious 2008 Grassroots Innovation Award from the Public Affairs Council (PAC) for the conception, promotion, creative design and implementation of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Virtual March on Washington.
The online virtual march, named “Save the Secret Ballot” was developed by Adfero to help the U.S. Chamber galvanize and inspire its supporters to reach out to Members of Congress regarding potentially damaging legislation that would remove the use of the private ballots in union elections.
“Adfero’s strategy in utilizing this activist tool, the online virtual march, meant a whole segment of the U.S. Chamber’s membership was powerfully engaged like never before,” said Jeff Mascott, Adfero Managing Director.
This virtual march was the first of its kind to ever feature the National Mall as the rallying point for activists. It allowed each activist to create an individualized, online persona (or avatar) making the process more realistic and thus, more engaging. By bringing the virtual march to Washington, D.C. this innovative idea showed a skeptical Congress that online activists were genuine and real. The Grassroots Innovation Awards from the Public Affairs Council recognize the nation’s best grassroots programs and campaigns. The awards are given to the leading program in each of three categories – Corporate Grassroots Innovation, Association Grassroots Innovation and the Innovative Use of Technology in Grassroots. Adfero Group and the U.S. Chamber won in the ‘Innovative Use of Technology in Grassroots’ category. PAC is the leading association for public affairs professionals. The awards were presented at the 31st Annual National Grassroots Conference in Key West, Florida.
This PAC award comes on the heels of recent news that 19 of Adfero’s Congressional clients were honored with Gold Mouse Awards presented by the Congressional Management Foundation (CMF). The Gold Mouse Awards recognize “The Best Websites on Capitol Hill”.
