K Street Café: Where People Discuss Public Affairs Trends
Collaborative Blog Focuses on Novel Ways to Shape Public Policies
Washington, D.C. – Recognizing the increasingly important role digital media tools play in everyday life, a group of public affairs experts today announced the launch of K Street Café, an innovative new blog where contributors from a variety of backgrounds share new and novel ways that technology, the Internet and social media are being used to shape public policies.
“K Street used to be synonymous with the old-school of lobbying, where guys in dark suits met behind closed doors in smoke-filled rooms,” observed Jeff Mascott, a blog contributor and Managing Director of Adfero Group. “Thanks to technology, the power of ideas is replacing the power brokers, and K Street Café is where those ideas flourish.”
As new communications tactics are introduced, K Street Café will examine how advocacy organizations are continually changing the way they execute public affairs campaigns. The blog will highlight and analyze the shift from one-directional communications to multi-layered conversations as the method of choice for individuals engaged in issue advocacy.
K Street Café contributors are practitioners and observers in the public affairs realm and are well-known for staying on top of the major transformations taking place in the advocacy world. These contributors represent major stakeholder groups, such as associations, think tanks, corporate government affairs offices, interest groups, the media, and key industry organizations in Washington, D.C. The initial K Street Café contributors include:
- Alan Rosenblatt, Center for American Progress Action Fund
- Andrew Mirsky, Mirsky and Company
- Carie Lewis, Humane Society of the United States
- Chris Kinnan, FreedomWorks
- Colin Delany, ePolitics.com
- Jeff Mascott, Adfero Group
- John “CZ” Czwartacki, Verizon
- John Wonderlich. Sunlight Foundation
- Kathy Goldschmidt, Congressional Management Foundation
- Peter Waldheim, Blog Council
- Rob Bluey, Heritage Foundation
“The nature of lobbying is radically shifting, bringing with it a fresh new level of transparency to participatory democracy,” Mascott added. “We are confident that visitors to K Street Café will gain valuable insights from these discussions, and more importantly, apply their learning to engage more people in the process of influencing public policy.”
K Street Café is sponsored by Adfero Group, a pioneering public relations firm that integrates sophisticated digital strategies with traditional communications tactics, to advance clients’ public affairs and business agendas. Learn more at www.adfero.com.
