Michael Wm Schick

Michael Wm. Schick is a Partner at Adfero Group. He brings more than 30 years of communications and government relations experience in providing strategic counsel to a variety of corporate, association and non-profit clients.

Michael has led issue advocacy or public awareness campaigns for some of America’s largest organizations, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Business Roundtable, Biotechnology Industry Association, Grocery Manufacturers Association, American Beverage Association, Independent Community Bankers of America, Society of Nuclear Medicine, and the Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance. Michael is recognized by peers and clients alike for developing imaginative and effective issue advocacy ads, winning several Sabre and Pollie awards. He has also created several award-winning videos.

From 2003 to 2008, Michael was a Senior Vice President in the public affairs division of Porter Novelli, where he also served as the global specialty leader on alliance building.

Michael’s prior experience includes serving as head of communications at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for Legal Reform and Chief Operating Officer of Justice Fellowship. He also served for 15 years as a registered lobbyist and foreign agent at the international public affairs firm of Civic Service Inc. In the early 1980s, Michael spent four years as Deputy Press Secretary for U.S. Senator Strom Thurmond (R-SC). Prior to that, he was a television director/producer in Columbia, South Carolina.

As a much-sought after speaker and university lecturer, Michael’s engaging presentations help audiences across the country understand how to maximize the use of a variety of communications strategies, from advertising to Web 2.0.

An honors graduate of the University of South Carolina and a former Fellow at the C.S. Lewis Institute, Michael is the editor of 23 books and has written one book. He regularly teaches public affairs advocacy courses at the University of California (DC campus).

Michael and his wife, Diana, have two daughters and reside in Reston, Virginia.
